HAPPENING

Hem planlı hem de doğaçlama teatral aktiviteyi, görsel sanatları ve buluntu malzemeleri sentezleyen, 1960'lı ve 1970'li yıllara özgü bir sanat etkinliği (bkz. objet trouve). Seyirci katılımı da sıklıkla davet edildi. Form gelişti c. 1957-59 yılları arasında New York'ta soyut dışavurumculuğun özgür doğaçlamasının zamana ve mekana bir uzantısı olarak ortaya çıktı ve pop art'ın evriminde önemli bir aşamaydı. Ortaya çıkışı aynı zamanda besteci John Cage'den ve onun şansın kullanımına ilişkin teorilerinden de etkilenmiştir. Happening An art event typical of the 1960s and 1970s which synthesized both planned and improvised theatrical activity, the visual arts and found materials (see objet trouve). Audience participation was also often invited. The form evolved c. 1957-59 in New York as an extension into time and space of the free improvisation of abstract expressionism and was an important stage in the evolution of pop art. Its emergence was also influenced by the composer John Cage and his theories concerning the use of chance. The most striking difference between the happening and more conventional kinds of theatre is the lack of narrative. See also action.
