MACCHİAİOLİ

Floransa'da çalışan bir grup İtalyan ressam c. 1855-65. Bireysel dokunuşların veya boya damlalarının etkisinden yararlanarak hakim akademik üsluba isyan ettiler. Corot ve Courbet'ten etkilendiler ve bazı açılardan Fransız izlenimciliğinin tekniklerinin habercisi oldular. En öne çıkanlar arasında Giovanni Fattori ve Telemaco Signorini vardı.

Macchiaioli (It., fr. macchia, 'stain, blot') A group of Italian painters working in Florence c. 1855-65. They rebelled against the prevailing academic style by exploiting the effect of individual touches or blobs ofpaint. They were influenced by Corot and Courbet, and in some ways foreshadowed the techniques of French impressionism. Among the most prominent were Giovanni Fattori and Telemaco Signorini.
