YARI AHŞAP (HALF TIMBERING)

Yarı ahşap 1. 16. ve 17. yüzyıllarda Kuzey Avrupa'da yaygın olarak kullanılan yerel bir yapı stili. Ana destekler kalın keresteden yapılmıştı, aralarındaki boşluklar ise ince dal, tuğla veya taşla doldurulmuştu. Daha sonra tüm yapı sıva, yalıtma veya fayanslarla kaplanabilir. Siyah-beyaz tarzı bir tür yarı ahşaptır. 2. Daha gevşek bir şekilde, ioth-c. Dış duvara tutturulmuş sahte ahşap çerçeveli binalar.

Half- timbering 1. A vernacular building style used extensively in northern Europe in the 16th and 17th c. The principal supports were made of stout timber, while the interstices between them were filled with wattle-and-daub, brick or stone. The whole structure might then be covered with plaster, weather-boarding or tiles. The black-and-white style is a type of half-timbering. 2. More loosely, ioth-c. buildings with a false timber frame attached to the outside wall.
