Gravür için kullanılacak bakır levhanın yüzeyine elektroliz yoluyla çelik kaplama işlemi. 19. yüzyılın ikinci çeyreğinde icat edildi. ve bozulmadan önce plakadan alınabilecek baskıların sayısı büyük ölçüde arttı.

Steel facing The process of depositing steel, bymeans of electrolysis, onto the surface of a copper plate which is to be used for engraving. It was invented in the second quarter of the 19th c. and greatly increased the number ofimpressions which could be taken from the plate before it deteriorated.
