Seaweed marquetry A type of marquetryconsisting of panels of richly figured wood(usually holly or boxwood) set into a background of walnut veneer. The figure in the wood is thought to resemble seaweed. Thetechnique was popular in the late 1 7th and early 18 th c, but the name is modern.
