DURUM GRUBU (SITUATION GROUP)

Durum Grubu 1960 yılında Londra'daki RBA (Royal Society of British Artists) galerilerinde 'Durum' adlı bir sergi düzenlenmiş ve bu sergi daha sonra eserleri sergilenen sanatçılara geçmiştir. Situation Group In i960 an exhibition called 'Situation' was held at the RBA (Royal Society of British Artists) galleries in London, and the name was later transferred to the artists whose work was exhibited. Among them were John Hoyland, Bernard Cohen and Robyn Denny. They were interested in creating large abstract paintings, influenced by those pro- duced in the US during the 1950s, and chose this name to stress the fact that large-scale abstract painting enveloped the spectator's whole field of vision and thus produced a 'situation' for him.
