PİTORESK (PICTURESQUE THE)

Pitoresk, 18. yüzyılda ortaya çıkan, mimari elemanların, resimsel veya heykelsi bir kompozisyonun parçalarının veya bir bahçe tasarımının hoşa giden düzensiz bir şekilde düzenlenmesi ilkesi (Claude Lorrain ve Poussin'in resimlerinde olduğu gibi). (Perspektif) teriminin kullanımını ilk kez ortaya koyan, Uvedale Price'ın Yüce ve Güzelle Karşılaştırıldığında Pitoresk Üzerine Bir Deneme (1794) adlı eseriydi. Ayrıca bkz. yüce.

Picturesque, the The principle, originating in the 18th c, of arranging architectural elements, the parts of a pictorial or sculptural composition, or a garden design, in a pleasingly irregular way (as in the paintings of Claude Lorrain and Poussin).
