Transfer printing A method of decorating enamel and ceramics by printing a design from an engraved plate onto paper, then pressing the result onto the surface to be decorated. In the case of ceramics, this can be done either before or after applying the glaze. The process was first used at the Battersea enamel factory in 1753.
